Day 17 St George Rest Day 0 kms

0 Kms if you don't count the ride out to the weir that a few of them were taking at 9 am in the morning. We all rose as usual, with the sun. The trouble is that now we are in Queensland the sun is coming up earlier. Woody was up before Collis & I this morning because he heard noises and the sun was shining into his tent, he thought it must have been about 8 am.
Danny making calls home.
We all had breakfast with Jacquei & Annette before they had to leave for the long drive back home to Brisbane in one day. It was such a lovely treat to catch up with her before she officially arrives and she left some goodies to be shared out amongst the riders over the next couple of days. Thanks Jac.

Annette visiting.
Such a lazy day was had by all except myself as I had to put on another BBQ tonight. We had plenty with chicken (chops & wings), Moroccan rissoles, sausages (which included kanga bangers), potato salad, bean salad & a tossed salad. Followed by fresh fruit salad and ice cream with caramel or chocolate toppings. Some of the riders visited the local winery so we had some nice wines to accompany the meal.

Ben offered to help with the cooking.
The evening was finished off with a game or two of Bananagrams (compliments of Jac). It was good fun but Ben is winning all the games so we are out to beat him.

Quote of the day:
As I leaned, the toilet leaned with me!

Terrra Nullius (Daniel)

Daniel blew in from Missouri

To see Down Under and meet some Koori

Maybe learn some outback lingo

Spot a roo or at least a dingo

He's not sure just where he's been

Or what he's done or what he's seen

But somehow he thinks we're bluffing

When we tell him there's a lot more nothing

I think it was beyond his ken

That cycling OZ would be so Zen

  1. Great that photos are appearing. They put flesh on the developing story. I'm trying to pair off the names and the faces. Ye seem to be grubbing well...what a hamburger!! Any possibility that the rich dining had anything to do with the noises heard around the CP early in the morning?? Safe cycling for the next few days. Richard, Tipperary, Ireland.

  2. Thanks Richard. We are a very melodious group first thing in the morning which doesn't seem to be caused by anything in particular. A few of the photos are in the wrong spots and may confuse a few people but I have been unable to remove them so they will have to stay there until we get home to a real computer; currently working off an iPad.``See you later down the track.
