Day 14 Hebel to Thallon 130 kms

The morning was started with a cooked breakfast done by the general store and paid for by Cycle Across Oz. We had eggs, bacon, hash browns, tomatoes, toast & fruit. I appreciated that the owners brought out a special serving for Collis and I at the end as they noticed that we hung back and just had the leftovers. The meal was enjoyed by all barr 2 riders who left early because they had heard it was going to be a headwind and some unmade road out there today. We managed to save a bacon and egg sandwich for Robbo due to his medical condition where he has to eat on a regular basis.
Robbo & Danny were the first out and they did struggled a little. Actually most struggled today.
In other words- Not much happening.
Morning tea was a bit bland with biscuits and a fruit platter. This seemed to meet all cravings though. Morning tea was 50 km and lunch was at 'Noon do' rest area at around 100 kms.
Lots of water lying around.
We loved the slogans for each town.
Huge loads.
The unmade road  was a whole 2.8 kms (not as far as Woody would tell you) just near the end of the day. It had a fair bit of correlation AND lots of dust when a truck (or 2) went past. The riders were advised to get off the road as they were not visible to vehicles.
We are staying at the Thallon Show grounds tonight. The facilities were a pleasant surprise and we had LOADS of grass and room to camp. The pub meals were reasonable prices also.

Rescued out of the ladies toilet.
Quotes of the day:

Road Kill: It's pretty flat so it must of been run over by a truck.

Food boxes: "I'll eat everything and blame it on the possums."
