Day 12 Coonamble to Walgett 121 kms

Another early start today, which seems to be the normal practice of all our bike rides. Robbo was first up as usual and then Fliss and Peter (I think because I wasn't up that early) and Danny is always one of the first away each morning. Annie was woken by the early riders and she would dearly love at least one sleep in. Jan is always up before Collis and I and this morning was no differtent except when we emerged from our little cave, their tent was already down and packed away. Collis & I woke at 6.15 am and I felt we could have been the last up.

Morning tea was at the 63 km mark at a nice little rest area with seats and toilets. As you can see Ben worked himself a bit hard and collapsed as soon as he arrived at the rest area. Morning tea today was a fresh fruit platter and was enjoyed by most of them but not so much by Annie & Woody.

The winds were once again favorable and they were flying down the track towards Walgett. Lunch was at the  the 100 km mark and  most arrived in Walgett early afternoon and stayed in town at a little cafe for disabled workers. Georg and Jerry went straight to the Motel for a beer but the manager was in town doing some chores.
He eventually arrived and our rooms were sorted out. The 3 couples had their own rooms, the 3 girls shared and the males ended up with 2 x 3 bed rooms and one 4 bedroom.
Most of us ate at the dining room at the motel and the meals were enjoyed by everyone. Huge steaks once again, they don't seem to go for small steaks in this area. Very nice place to stay at The Barwin Inn Walgett and the manager was lovely.

Collis’s Nightly Briefings
He gathers asked for his daily sermon
Poms, Aussies, Yanks and one German
These nightly briefings take a while
Delivered Molly Meldrum style
He tries to give precise directions
Over Robbo's interjections
Every night he guarantees
We’ll get assistance from the breeze
Kathy sits there with teeth gritted
Then tells us what has been omitted
But despite the info and the warnings
We all take a wrong turn in the mornings.
