Day 13 Walgett to Hebel via Lightning Ridge 152 kms

Everyone had a little bit of a sleep in but not much considering they were not tenting it last night. There was breakfast available but no-one took up the offer.
It was a hard days ride with a headwind most of the day.
Morning tea was fruit cake and at the 50 km mark. We made a detour off to Lightening Ridge for those who wanted to buy some opal or just to have a look around. Most riders took the detour and had another break at the coffee shop.

We stayed at the Jazz cottage in Hebel, 8 of us anyway. The rest of the group chose to camp behind the general store. A good night was had by everyone except poor Annie who's bed had a dip in it and she ended up sleeping on the couch near Jan who's alarm went off at 4.30 am and Michael snoring all night (little did she know that she would very quickly get used to snorers).

Hebel has a great old pub with lots of character and a drink (or two) were enjoyed by most of us before we headed back across to the general store for one of the best dinners so far on the trip. The store put on a pizza & pasta night for $15/head. The best tasting pizzas & pasta in a long time enjoyed by everyone.
